Aon names Andersen sole President as O’Connor departs

Aon, the global insurance and reinsurance broking house, has named Eric Andersen as its new President, as the firm’s former co-President Michael O’Connor is departing the firm for a new opportunity.

eric-andersen-aonAon has also announced a search being undertaken to identify four regional leaders as new CEO’s for the brokers key regions of North America, Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific today.

In addition, Aon has named a new Chief Operating Officer in John Bruno, also continuing as CEO of Data & Analytic Services.

Andersen and O’Connor were named as co-President’s of Aon in 2018, when the broker retired its brand names for reinsurance and risk solutions and sought to embrace a more unified approach.

Now, with Michael O’Connor departing to pursue a new opportunity outside of Aon after 12 years at the firm, Eric Andersen is to take on sole responsibility at the President level, reporting to CEO Greg Case.

Aon will continue its efforts to present its business as a unified service offering and to meet that goal Andersen will now run an internal and external search for four regional CEO’s.

These regional leadership teams will be tasked with working across Aon’s broking and service solution lines, ensuring clients get the best service and liaising with global solutions leaders to ensure an aligned approach.

“The shift to a fully integrated model is consistent with Aon’s emphasis on delivering the best of the firm to clients and a natural next step in its decade-long evolution into a leading global professional services firm,” the company explained.

“Our firm has made tremendous progress in our Aon United journey, but there is still so much we can and will accomplish together,” explained Aon CEO Greg Case. “Eric is a true believer in the power of Aon United and passionate about the value it creates for clients. His leadership will be critical in fulfilling the potential of one firm.”

“I’m energized by the opportunity to work more closely with Greg to further align our team around the Aon United Blueprint,” Andersen added. “Our colleagues are experiencing the client value that comes with working together more closely across solution lines and geographies and I am committed to building on that momentum.”

Commenting on O’Connor’s departure, CEO Case said, “Mike was an early advocate of Aon United and has built a lasting legacy in his time at Aon. I’m personally grateful to Mike for always putting clients first and for his tireless efforts to execute on their behalf. We are a better firm because of his leadership and I wish him all the best as he begins a new and exciting chapter of his impressive career.”
