Insurance and reinsurance broking powerhouse Aon has made a senior hire from the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, hiring Neville Weston who was previously with ILS manager Aeolus Capital Management Ltd.
Weston was a Partner at Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the Bermuda based reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager.
He had been with Aeolus since 2009, but reportedly stood down towards the beginning of this year. Prior to that he worked in reinsurance broking for Guy Carpenter.
Weston will take on responsibility for specialty lines of reinsurance at Aon in the role of Vice Chairman of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions, Bermuda.
In joining he brings Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business a significant amount of Bermuda-focused underwriting and broking expertise, as well as ILS and collateralised reinsurance knowledge.
At Aeolus, Weston was a partner and senior underwriter for its property catastrophe fund.
At Guy Carpenter prior to that he managed the broker’s casualty and professional liability broking operations in Bermuda.
Weston will report into Tony Fox, chairman of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda, his appointment being subject to Bermuda immigration approval.
Nick Frankland, UK CEO of Aon’s Reinsurance Solutions business, stated, “Neville’s experience in specialty lines, property catastrophe treaty, industry loss warranty and retrocession contracts will further strengthen the team on the island as we explore growth opportunities for our clients.”
