Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the Bermuda based reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) focused investment fund manager, has added a new senior team hire with a focus on its claims operations.
The ILS investment manager has appointed Patrick Graham as its new Head of Claims, a role he began this year in August, the company confirmed to us.
Graham has been based in Bermuda working in the insurance and reinsurance sector for almost a decade, with claims, accounting and operations among the focus of his previous roles.
The addition of specific and dedicated claims resource is a must within all of the world’s largest ILS and reinsurance linked investment managers, as their increased scale and therefore the growing complexity of portfolios and exposures, meaning robust claims response and handling is needed to ensure service levels to cedants.
Having recently also made a key hire with a focus on investor analytics, this new appointment demonstrates that Aeolus is adding strength in depth to its team at this time.
Graham has joined Aeolus Capital Management from his most recent role with insurance and reinsurance firm Lancashire in Bermuda, where he held the position of Operations and Claims Manager.
Graham initially joined Lancashire back in 2012, working as a financial accountant at the re/insurer.
Prior to that, Graham worked at consultancy PwC in Bermuda as a manager from 2010.
Claims is a key piece of the ILS fund manager remit, as the ability to respond to, deal with, approve or decline and pay claims is a vital component of reinsurance provision.
