Third Point Re hires Nicholas Campbell as SVP Underwriting from Endurance

Bermuda-based provider of property and casualty reinsurance Third Point Reinsurance Ltd., backed by hedge fund manager Dan Loeb’s Third Point LLC, has hired Nicholas Campbell as Senior Vice President, Underwriting.

Campbell, most recently an EVP and Chief Risk Officer at Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd., joins Third Point Reinsurance in his new role immediately and will report directly to Third Point Re CEO John Berger.

Berger commented on the appointment; “We are excited that Nick has joined our team.   His combined underwriting and actuarial expertise bring a strong skillset to the company and we are confident that he will be a valuable addition.”

Campbell, a Bermudian, began his career at Towers Perrin in the UK, but returned to Bermuda in 1999 and several actuarial, consulting and underwriting positions, including Vice President and Actuary with Centre Solutions, Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary with ACE Capital Re, and Senior Vice President, Head of Specialty Treaty Reinsurance with Endurance Specialty Insurance  Ltd.

Most recently Campbell served as Chief Risk Officer at Endurance. He had been at Endurance since 2009 specialising in lines of business such as Workers’ Compensation Catastrophe, Clash, Political Risk, and Aviation treaty reinsurance, all of which will be relevant to Third Point Re’s casualty strategy.
