Steve McGill, Group President of Aon Plc and the Chairman and CEO of the firms Risk Solutions group, that includes reinsurance brokerage Aon Benfield, has stepped down this morning, Artemis has been told.
The departure from insurance and reinsurance broker Aon is due to McGill’s desire to “more broadly serve the insurance industry” at a time of change in the current world order, taking a step back to reassess his next career move, a memo sent to staff explained, Artemis has been told this morning.
McGill has been in the insurance and reinsurance industry since 1977, becoming Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group in 2001 and joining Aon in 2005 as Chief Executive Officer of Aon Global.
He became Group President in 2012 and his current role also sees him heading up the Risk Solutions group, including reinsurance focused Aon Benfield, capital markets and ILS focused Aon Securities and the Aon Risk Solutions unit.
