Back in December we reported the first UCITS compliant insurance-linked securities investment fund launcha. Now we see (via Hedge Week) that another is launching under the wing of Decision Analytics Advisory Partners AG and their Next Generation Absolute Return business.
They are working in cooperation with ILS investment specialist Secquaero Advisors and are launching a range of UCITS III compliant funds all of which have received approval from regulators in Luxembourg. The new fund is based on the non-UCITS investment strategy of Secquaero’s ILS fund but puts a UCITS regulatory compliant spin on it.
The Next Generation Absolute Return-Secquaero ILS Fund will invest in a well diversified portfolio of insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bonds and seeks to to generate absolute returns with low correlation to traditional asset classes. German based ACATIS Investment GmbH act as investment manager with Secquaero acting as an advisor.
UCITS (Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) compliant investment vehicles abide by the set of European Union directives that allow investment schemes to operate freely throughout the EU on the basis of a single authorisation from just one member state. This means they have a highly regulated structure which can be a significant benefit to investors.
