Specialty insurance and reinsurance firm Brit Ltd. has announced the hiring of ILS experienced Kristina Maffit as a new VP in its Bermuda property reinsurance underwriting team.
Maffit, who was most recently with insurance-linked investment manager Elementum Advisors, joins Brit in the role of Vice President, Property Reinsurance for Brit Global Specialty Bermuda (BGSB).
She takes on the BGSB role effective today April 1st 2019 and will be based in Brit’s Bermuda office, reporting to Nick Davies, President of Brit Americas.
Maffit will be tasked with managing the Property Reinsurance underwriting team of BGSB, as well as the underwriting of U.S. catastrophe reinsurance business for Brit’s Lloyd’s syndicates 2987 and 2988.
Maffit will also be working to support the ongoing development of Brit’s global Property Reinsurance offering, working alongside underwriting and exposure management teams in Bermuda, London and the U.S.
Maffit had spent six years as a Portfolio Management Associate at Elementum Advisors LLC, where she specialised in collateralized natural catastrophe reinsurance investments.
Before her time with Elementum, Maffit also worked on collateralized reinsurance programs as a Business Analyst at Validus-owned ILS manager AlphaCat and Validus Reinsurance.

Brit has itself a growing practice in third-party reinsurance capital and collateralized reinsurance, much of which is managed out of Bermuda, not least through its Sussex Capital ILS management unit and its Versutus reinsurance sidecar vehicle.
