Brit Group hire to assist development of capital market relationships

Brit Group, the global specialty insurer and reinsurer with a large presence at Lloyd’s, has announced a new hire in strategy and corporate development who will be tasked with helping to develop the firms profile through building relationships with the capital markets.

Brit has hired Joy Ferneyhough into a new role as Director of Strategy and Corporate Development, where she will work closely with Mark Cloutier, Group CEO, and the executive team to identify strategic opportunities and key market relationships which will help to boost Brit’s performance. An area of key focus for the new role will on developing relationships with key players in the capital markets.

Ferneyhough previously held a role at Espirito Santo Investment Bank where she was Head of Insurance Equity Research. This saw her acting as the lead analyst on the European and UK insurance sector, focusing on P&C and reinsurance. Before her 11 years with Espirito Santo (previously Execution Ltd) Ferneyhough worked at UBS Investment Bank for four years within the European Insurance Equity Research team.

Ferneyhough’s relationships built over years as an analyst focused on the re/insurance space will be valuable to Brit and along with capital market savvy acquired with time at an investment bank this should position her very strongly to help Brit build those capital market relationships. The capital market relationships will no doubt include the topic of third-party reinsurance capital and how Brit could itself leverage it for its own needs.
