Global law firm Appleby has announced a number of new appointments to partner within their organisation. Two of those appointments will interest our readers as they involve lawyers with a track record in the insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bonds sector. Appleby are one of a number of law firms who have been growing their participation in these markets in recent years and these appointments to partner level demonstrate their intention to continue to focus on advising within the sector.
Alan Bossin is a senior lawyer within Appleby’s insurance team. He has extensive experience within the insurance and reinsurance space as well as within the area of capital markets convergence. He has experience within securitization, longevity risk, catastrophe bonds, the use of special purpose vehicles for risk transfer and insurance-linked securities. He also advises on the establishment of all classes of reinsurer and the regulatory regime in Bermuda.
Sarah Demerling works across a number of finance areas including Islamic Finance and Funds & Investment Services. Her broad experience in these areas includes advising on all types of hedge funds, mutual funds and investment vehicles and recently on funds established for investment into insurance-linked products. She also specialises in OTC derivatives transactions, ISDA transactions and securities offerings.
