The exodus of lawyers with experience in reinsurance, insurance-linked securities and catastrophe bond transactions from Dewey & LeBoeuf is continuing with the latest moving across to DLA Piper. DLA Piper announced the appointment of Prakash Paran to their London office as a partner in the Corporate group and member of the global Insurance and Reinsurance Sector Group, along with Roger Loo and Melanie James as counsel. All three have joined DLA Piper from Dewey & LeBoeuf.
Paran has broad-based corporate transactional experience most notably in the insurance sector with insurance-linked securities transactions being a particular area of focus. The two counsels have insurance focused experience as well.
Dewey & LeBoeuf are losing their insurance practice at an alarming rate, although despite this the firm continues to make headlines for providing counsel and advise on large corporate transactions, meanwhile their competitors are picking up significant experience in the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities spaces.
Other incidences of ILS focused partners leaving Dewey include Stephen Rooney leaving for Mayer Brown and a whole team of partners with ILS experience leaving for Willkie Farr & Gallagher.
