Saltire Re I sidecar details

The fully-collateralized Saltire Re I reinsurance sidecar was launched to provide Lancashire with a new source of underwriting fee income from third-party investors. $33m of the sidecar’s $250m capacity is contributed by Lancashire itself, with the remaining capital coming from external investors.

To aid with the management and administration of the fully-collateralized reinsurance sidecar vehicle, Lancashire also launched a management company at the same time as Saltire Re I, called Saltire Management Limited.

Lancashire Group CEO, Richard Brindle commented on the sidecar; “The formation of Saltire Re I and Saltire Management marks an exciting new chapter in Lancashire’s story. It affords the investors in Saltire Re I access to Lancashire’s underwriting expertise, and allows Lancashire the ability to generate fee income. We have listened to our clients and brokers and believe that there will be an appetite for the Saltire Re I product.”
