Carver hired by Guy Carpenter as UK non-marine MD and Senior Broker

Reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter has hired Richard Carver from Aon as a new Managing Director and Senior Broker in the firm’s UK non-marine division, adding new expertise across both property and casualty classes of reinsurance business.

Richard Carver has more than 30 years of reinsurance industry, gained during a career that saw him working in both the underwriting and broking spaces.

He was most recently a Managing Director at rival Aon where he had worked for more than 15 years and had been based in both the London and Bermuda markets.

Carver has had an extensive reinsurance career, including roles as Reinsurance Underwriting Director at Brit and as the Active Underwriter at St Paul at Lloyd’s Syndicate 314, with experience gained in underwriting both property and casualty reinsurance classes of business.

At Guy Carpenter, Carver is to be based in London for the broker and will report in to James Boyce, Deputy CEO, Global Specialties. He is expected to take up the role in May 2019.

During his career, he has become a highly respected market practitioner and will be a fantastic addition to our non-marine specialty team.”

We’re told Carver has experience of working with collateralized reinsurance and ILS fund markets.
