Hiscox Re Insurance Linked Strategies Ltd., the manager of third-party reinsurance capital funds at Hiscox, has hired Ben Fox from the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan (OTPP) as a portfolio manager within the Hiscox Re ILS investment team.
Fox had been with the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan since July 2014, working as a Principal and assistant portfolio manager, co-managing the insurance-linked securities (ILS) portfolio at the institutional investor and being responsible for risk analytics for portfolio construction and optimisation.
Prior to his time at the pension, Fox spent a year and a half with the World Bank as a financial specialist focused on disaster risk financing, before which he worked in catastrophe risk modelling for reinsurance broker Aon Benfield and also for RMS.

Fox will be Bermuda-based and the appointment is dependent on immigration approval.
Hiscox Re ILS recently grew its assets under management to a new high at $1.5 billion and revealed plans to expand its product range to bring third-party reinsurance capital to risks of a more primary nature.
