Reinsurance brokerage JLT Re has announced a senior appointment in Asia-Pacific that brings experience in retrocession, capital markets and ILS to the firm, hiring Carsten Thienel from rival broker Ed.
Thienel has more than 30 years of reinsurance industry experience, most recently as CEO Reinsurance for Asia Pacific at Ed, before which he held a number of management roles at Hannover Re.
He brings JLT Re experience in property retrocession, capital markets reinsurance transactions and insurance-linked securities (ILS), all of which will help the broker in its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.
Thienel will join JLT Re in Asia Pacific and report to Stuart Beatty, CEO of Asia Pacific, JLT Re as well as Bradley Maltese Deputy CEO, UK & Europe, JLT Re.
