Conyers partner with ILS experience moves to Hong Kong

Peter Ch’ng, a Partner experienced in insurance-linked securities (ILS) at Bermuda headquartered insurance and reinsurance focused law firm Conyers, Dill & Pearman, has relocated to Hong Kong to support the firm’s ongoing growth.

Conyers, Dill & Pearman is a well-known law firm in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) sector, advising on a range of issues related to ILS, catastrophe bonds, ILS investment funds and collateralized reinsurance arrangements or structures.

Ch’ng has been with Conyers for 16 years and in that time has worked on a number of issues of relevance to insurance-linked securities (ILS), including on investment funds, advisory on reinsurance transaction related issues, ILS structuring issues, segregated accounts companies (SACs), special purpose vehicles and derivatives, as well as his work in M&A, private equity partnerships, IPO’s, placements and private banking.

Specifically, Ch’ng has helped set up a Bermuda domiciled ILS investment unit trust fund for Asuka Asset Management Co., Ltd which targeted the Japanese investor market and the associated setting up of its investment manager, Eastpoint Asset Management Limited.

Ch’ng also acted on behalf of SS&C when it acquired Prime Management Limited, a leading licensed ILS fund administrator and ILS service provider.

He has also worked alongside a French bank to assist it in converting its Bermuda reinsurance captive to a segregated accounts company (SAC) and also advised on the transformation of over-the-counter collateralized longevity swap trades with global life insurers into reinsurance through a Bermuda segregated accounts platform.
