RMS, the catastrophe risk modelling and analytics firm, has hired Colin Kerley as senior vice president, platform solutions. Kerley will bring experience from prior reinsurance industry roles, including on the insurance-linked securities (ILS) side, to his work with RMS market and product development teams.
In the role, Kerley will put his industry experience to work helping to identify the best solutions for RMS’ clients, by understanding their business and strategic imperatives and identifying where risk modelling, risk management and data analytics can benefit them.
Michael Steel, head of the newly formed RMS global solutions practice, commented on the appointment of Kerley who will report to him; “Colin brings a thorough understanding of the risk management and growth opportunities available to our clients when using best-in-class risk analytics to inform their decision-making. His knowledge and expertise will be central to our clients’ smooth adoption of solutions powered by RMS(one)® — an open, big data and analytics platform that is purpose-built for the insurance industry.”
Kerley, senior vice president, RMS platform solutions, added; “While the industry has always been data-driven, we now have the compute power to take full advantage of that data. Kerley was most recently with AXIS Capital in the role of senior vice president, group risk management, responsible for capital modeling, and acting as chief risk officer for AXIS’s European legal entities. Before that Kerley worked in the ReMetrics team at Benfield, and with the insurance-linked securities (ILS) team at Barclays Capital.
