New Head of Broking Strategies to help Aon match capital to client needs

Aon Benfield, reinsurance broking and capital advisory arm of Aon plc, has appointed Jeremy Goodman as Global Head of Broking Strategies, a role that will see him working to ensure that Aon client needs are matched with the right form of capital.

The importance of being a capital advisor, as well as broker, for the large re/insurance broking houses is increasingly clear, as traditional and alternative reinsurance capital product ranges expand and cedents become more discerning about where different types of capital can aid them best.

Goodman has been with Aon Benfield since 2006, serving in a number of leadership roles and holding a position on Aon Benfield’s US executive team. Most recently Goodman was an Executive Managing Director of Aon Benfield, working with clients on their reinsurance strategies, both in terms of program design and execution, across both the traditional reinsurance and alternative capital markets.

Goldman will transition to the new Head of Broking Strategies immediately, reporting to Aon Benfield CEO Eric Andersen, and will be responsible for building relationships and networks with the broker’s reinsurance trading partners, in order to “better match capital to client needs and develop new innovative products.”

Having begun his career in 1986 and moving to the U.S. in 1991, Goodman spent time at Cooper Gay where he became Chief Executive Officer of Cooper Gay North America and a Board Director of Cooper Gay Holdings, before joining Aon Benfield.

Goodman’s appointment underscores the importance of having strategic and senior leaders who buy into the fact that reinsurance purchases should be more capital agnostic and that complementary sources of risk capital from traditional and alternative markets should be brought together to create more efficient programs for brokers clients.
