Insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance specialist asset manager Leadenhall Capital Partners LLP has added two new hires, one to head up its legal or general counsel function, and another in operations but mainly focused on life risks.
Chris Wright has been hired as Leadenhall’s Head of Legal and Compliance, while Michael Kahler takes an Operations Manager role but with a focus on the firm’s life ILS portfolio.
Wright joins Leadenhall following almost four years as an associate at law firm Debevoise & Plimpton, prior to which he had held roles in legal or general counsel positions for Credit Suisse and Slaughter & May, among others.
Before joining Leadenhall this month Kahler spent nearly eight years as a treasury and middle office analyst at The Childrens Investment Fund, before which he worked in a middle office function for RAB Capital.
Leadenhall told Artemis that Kahler will have a particular focus on the ILS manager’s life insurance and reinsurance linked portfolio.
Leadenhall has also increased its ILS assets under management once again, with continued growth across both non-life and life insurance and reinsurance linked investment funds, reaching just shy of $2.8 billion at the beginning of May, according to CEO Luca Albertini.
