Tony Ursano the CEO of insurance and reinsurance broker Willis Group’s capital markets, M&A and insurance-linked securities (ILS) unit, Willis Capital Markets & Advisory, has resigned after six years leading the unit.
A media spokesperson at Willis confirmed to Artemis that Tony Ursano handed his resignation in recently (last week according to the Insider) and will leave the firm after six years leading the capital markets and ILS unit at the broker.
The spokesperson said; “Tony has done a great job building WCMA over the past several years. Everyone at Willis wishes him well for the future.”
Prior to his time at Willis, Ursano worked at Bank of America Securities where he held roles as Global Head and Vice Chairman of the Financial Institutions Group. Before that he worked at banks Merrill Lynch and SG Warburg.
In his time leading Willis Capital Markets & Advisory, Ursano has led the group into one of the top 10 positions as a catastrophe bond and ILS structuring agent, bookrunner and manager, according to Artemis’ market stats.
Since Willis Capital Market & Advisory’s formation in 2009 it has advised on more than 70 M&A and capital raising transactions.
