StormHarbour a boutique independent investment bank and advisory firm has hired experienced ILS and reinsurance capital markets exec Jonathan Spry to head up insurance and reinsurance investment banking and ILS activities at the firm.
Jonathan Spry was previously Head of UK Insurance Coverage at RBS, prior to which he was an SVP at GC Securities and Head of ILS at Standard & Poor’s.
Spry joined StormHarbour late last year, taking on the role of Managing Director and Head of Insurance Solutions and Advisory at the firm. The role will see Spry leading insurance and reinsurance structuring, advisory, capital raising, insurance linked securities and securitizations, asset sourcing particularly alternatives and bank de-leveraging trades for StormHarbour.
According to Reuters, Spry will report directly to StormHarbour managing principal Antonio Cacorino.
StormHarbour is not a name that crops up in ILS very often, if at all to-date, suggesting that the hire of Spry will see the firm looking to build a new practice and specialism in the ILS and reinsurance capital markets.
