   Rating agency Standard & Poor’s has come out with its strongest worded statement  to date on the rating outlook for the global reinsurance market, saying that increased competition and soft reinsurance pricing could lead to rating pressure for reinsurers.
2. UNISDR, Munich Re, Willis Re team up on Philippines parametric cover
   A new parametric insurance facility has been proposed by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), with assistance from the world’s largest reinsurer Munich Re and reinsurance broker Willis Re.
3. AQR Re Management launches new catastrophe reinsurance fund, grows assets
   AQR Re Management, Ltd., an affiliate of global investments firm AQR Capital Management, LLC, has launched a new catastrophe reinsurance fund and grown its reinsurance-linked assets under management at the beginning of the year.
4. Tokio Millennium Re sponsors Omamori private catastrophe bond
   Global reinsurance firm Tokio Millennium Re AG has sponsored its first catastrophe bond, with the successful placement of a $25m private deal, named Omamori, through Tokio Solution Management Ltd‘s private cat bond platform Tokio Tensai™.

   In 2013 the insurance-linked securities market saw its second highest level of issuance on record. Assisting the ILS markets growth is continued structural innovation and an increasingly sophisticated investor base, according to global reinsurance firm Swiss Re.
9. Investors increasingly drawn to cat bonds & ILS: S&P roundtable
   In a roundtable discussion held recently by Standard & Poor’s the participants, from the reinsurance and insurance-linked securities (ILS) space, said that investors have increasingly been drawn to catastrophe bonds and ILS, helping issuance to boom.
10. AXIS CEO Albert Benchimol on alternative reinsurance capital
    Ratings agency A.M. Best recently interviewed AXIS Capital CEO Albert Benchimol for its A.M. Best TV channel. Benchimol inevitably discussed alternative reinsurance capital and said that AXIS feels well positioned to succeed in that space.
