International law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP have announced the hire of a new partner who brings with them extensive experience in the insurance-linked securities and alternative risk transfer areas of the insurance market. Stanford A. Renas has joined the firm as partner in its Structured Finance and Securitization Practice and will be working out of Katten’s New York office.

Renas joins Katten from his last position at Linklaters, having also previously worked with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. He brings extensive experience in legal work on securitization of financial and hard assets in both domestic U.S. and cross-border transactions. His work has spanned much of the structured finance arena including energy, commodity and carbon related transactions as well as extensive experience with CDO’s, credit transactions and derivatives. He also brings experience in the insurance sector with him as well.

“Stan brings excellent experience in the structured finance domain and broad knowledge in corporate securities. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Katten team,” said Vincent A. F. Sergi, Katten’s national managing partner.

Renas has experience gained from working on ILS and risk transfer transactions including catastrophe bonds, longevity trades and Triple-X transactions which should help Katten to focus in more on this growing area which can be extremely profitable for law firms.
