Aon Benfield reviews February natural disasters

Share

Aon Benfield has released the latest edition of its monthly report which looks at the natural disasters and extreme weather events around the globe which occurred in the previous calendar month. The February edition of its Monthly Cat Recap report, published by Impact Forecasting (Aon’s catastrophe modelling arm), looks at events such as Cyclone Yassi in Australia, U.S. winter storms and the recent Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake.

The report puts the expected insured losses from the NZ earthquake within a range of US$7.5 billion to $11.3 billion, which is in line with other organisations analysis. Final losses from that event won’t be known for some time.

The report gives a good review of what looks likely to be an expensive February for the global re/insurance industry. You can read Aon’s press release and download the report in PDF format.
